About the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic

The Bobbin Head Cycle Classic – affectionately known as The Bobbo – is a community fundraising cycle ride for bike enthusiasts and recreational riders.

Comprising four different rides through scenic Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Bobbin Head, West Head and Akuna Bay, it caters for all types of cyclists and all levels of age (12 and upwards), fitness and experience, from light recreational riders and younger riders to experienced medium-distance event cyclists.

To ensure maximum safety and enjoyment for all participants, the four routes are resourced with personnel from the NSW Police, SES, St John Ambulance, medical staff from the San Hospital, plus hundreds of willing volunteer marshals.

It’s Volunteers that make the Bobbo possible. The event is organised by a team from the Rotary Clubs of Ku-ring-gai, St Ives, Turramurra and Wahroonga, all of whom are volunteers.

For the 2018 event, the organising teams will be looking for more than 500 volunteers to assist with the running of the event – more details below and here.

Volunteer!

It takes more than 450 volunteers to put an event like the Bobbin Head Cycle Classic. If you and a few of your friends, colleagues or family members could give just a couple of hours on Sunday 25 Mar 2018 (or prior), it would be hugely appreciated.

The Bobbo’s primary requirement is for marshals to direct riders along the ride route.

But other roles are also available and may be requested via the comments box on the volunteer application form here.

Other tasks include helping out at drink station / rest stops, at the event’s BBQ stall, at the set-up at Karuah Oval etc.

Fundraise / Donate / Sponsor!

The Bobbo is a charity event run by volunteers. The event’s organisers encourage all supporters, well-wishers and family members of riders to join in the fundraising effort if they possibly can. A dedicated page on the Bobbo’s website provides online tools to enable you to reach out to your friends for their support. Fundraising for the Bobbo or sponsoring a rider is unbelievably easy, painless and wonderful ways to support Lifeline. However, fundraising is not mandatory

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury is proud to be the event’s primary charity partner. 50% of all funds raised go to Lifeline H2H.
