Book Fair Groups

Interested in becoming a book fair volunteer?

Volunteers who enjoy reading and have a good command of English are needed to help with the preparation for our major book fairs and the smaller book sales. The tasks include sorting of books, allocating them to categories, pricing and packing of books and helping on sales days.

By volunteering to help with book fairs, you will be making a difference to everyone who uses Lifeline’s services. It is also fun to work with others in a cooperative, social atmosphere and gain knowledge about books.

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury’s two book fair groups process book donations and conduct the book fairs. Each group has a great team of enthusiastic and book loving members. Many have been volunteering for years.

Book fairs and clearance sales are the high point of many months’ preparation by our book fair groups. Yet it is the behind-the-scenes tasks of culling, sorting, pricing and packing books that occupy most of the volunteers’ time.

Working hours for individual volunteers are completely flexible – come when you can, leave when you must. Some group members come one day a week whilst others find it convenient to come on a couple of days. Socialising over tea, coffee and lunch is an important part of the groups’ time together.
