Oh what a fair it was!
Well, we did call it a Giant Book Fair, but happily our second Lifeline book fair at The Civic Pavilion, The Concourse, Chatswood, proved to be even more ‘giant’ than we had expected…
We are delighted to be able to say that the event ended up being more than 20% up on last year’s net fund-raising effort, making it one of our Hornsby team’s most successful book fairs ever.
“This was an incredible team effort,” commented our CEO Wendy Carver. “Our congratulations and thanks to everyone involved, both those who were very visible around the fair in their smart blue Lifeline polo shirts, and all those who worked hard and tirelessly behind the scenes, over many months, to make this event such a success.”
Our thanks indeed to the Hornsby organising team and the nearly one hundred Lifeline H2H volunteers without whom the fair simply could not have happened.
To our various partner organisations, including Grill’d Crows Nest and The Wrigley Company and the wonderful staff they have loaned us, proving that when it comes to loading and unloading our trucks, many hands do indeed make light work.
To Willoughby City Council for their fantastic venue and their incredible professionalism and helpfulness with all the arrangements and set-up of the fair.
And of course to the local community who, over the months leading up to the fair, were generous with their donations of excellent condition books, and who, when it came to our two fair days, turned up in such numbers and supported Lifeline not only with their purchases but also with the joy and good spirit that gave the fair such a positive, happy vibe.
Thanks everyone. We hope we have now established our Chatswood Giant Book Fair as a major annual event in the local community’s calendar.
