It’s Volunteer Week this week, and Lifeline is celebrating a milestone! Over 10,000 Telephone Crisis Supporters have volunteered their time to Lifeline centres all over Australia over the past five years.
So here at Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury we are celebrating National Volunteer Week by acknowledging the kindhearted work of all our wonderful volunteers, past and present.
“This week is an important time for us to thank our local volunteers and send a message of hope to those struggling with life’s challenges,” commented Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury CEO, Wendy Carver.
“We have more than 450 highly-skilled volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporters in the Harbour to Hawkesbury region who each spend very many days, nights and weekends answering our 13 11 14 crisis line, helping others through their darkest moments.”
“These compassionate and non-judgmental community members save lives without any fuss or fanfare – they are truly selfless and special people.”
National Volunteer Week continues until Sunday 14 May.
