Do you have time to support an older person and enrich their quality of life through a friendly visit or phone call?

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) provides friendship and companionship by matching clients and volunteers with similar interests and ideas. Visits include something both parties can enjoy such as having a cup of tea and a chat, listening to music, a walk or an outing – depending on the health and mobility of the person being visited. Volunteers also make friendly phone calls which enhances social and community connections.

Visits and phone calls are made once per fortnight on a fixed day and time. Clients live in their own homes and are in receipt of a Home Care Package or live in a Residential Aged Care Facility.

CVS volunteers provide a rewarding service by building relationships, assisting clients to engage with the community, and improve general wellbeing. Sharing time and interests can lead to increases in motivation, confidence and independence.

Volunteers are an integral part of the Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury team, working with older persons, sensitively, professionally and with dedication. Volunteers are recruited under strict guidelines and receive orientation, training and ongoing support. Petrol expenses are also reimbursed.
