Way2Wellness, Northern Sydney

Better mental health begins with a phone call 1300 120 446

If you’re struggling with your mental wellbeing, it can be hard knowing what to do – or where to go for help. Perhaps you’re anxious about work or day-to-day life. Maybe you are feeling stressed or flat, and you’re just finding it hard to cope. You might even be worried about the mental wellbeing of someone close to you.

This is why we have created Way2Wellness. A free service delivered by Lifeline and funded by the Sydney North Primary Health Network, Way2Wellness connects people on Sydney’s north side with mental wellbeing support Monday to Friday 11am-7pm.

How does Way2Wellness work?

Just call 1300 120 446 and you’ll be connected to a trained online supporter who will talk to you confidentially about how you’re feeling – and listen without any judgement.
Whatever you’re experiencing, you don’t have to suffer in silence. We’re here to talk things through, help you make sense of what you’re going through, lighten the load you’re carrying, and assist you in finding your way back to wellness.

Who can call Way2Wellness?

If you live, work or attend school in northern Sydney (see specific areas below), you’re welcome to use the service. It doesn’t matter what gender you are, or what background you are from (after all, mental health concerns can affect anyone). We are trained to support anyone concerned about their own mental wellbeing, or someone else’s.

What happens when I call?

You’ll speak to one of our trained online supporters who will talk to you about what is going on in your life, and any current concerns you may have. To make sure we understand your situation we’ll ask a few questions – this usually takes at least 30 minutes. It’s a good idea to call from somewhere comfortable and private, at a time when you won’t get interrupted.

Once we know what you’re experiencing we will offer support options to assist you in finding your way back to better mental wellbeing. The steps you take will depend on your situation but could include using online support tools, connecting to local services (including face-to-face support) or a combination of these things.

It’s our goal to make sure that you hang up the phone knowing you are not alone, understanding the different support options available, and feeling clear about the next steps to take.

Is there any follow-up?

You can expect a follow-up call from us one week after your initial call (we’ll check with you to make sure we do this at a time that suits you) with the option of further follow up calls. If things ever feel critical, remember you can call Lifeline 24/7 on 13 11 14.

Way2Wellness will be servicing the following Local Government Areas: Hornsby, Hunters Hill, Mosman, North Sydney, Northern Beaches, Lane Cove, Ryde, Willoughby, Ku-ring-gai.

The Primary Health Network Programme is an Australian Government Initiative. Way2Wellness is provided by Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury in association with Lifeline Northern Beaches.
