Our Board of Directors

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney is one of the NSW Lifeline centres accredited by Lifeline Australia and accountable to Lifeline Australia for the governance of its operations.

  

Hon. Graham West – President

Graham is an experienced manager and leader in the not-for-profit sector and previously served as a Minister in the NSW Government. A seasoned CEO, Board Chair, consultant and advocate, including at an international level, Graham has established and led services focused on helping those experiencing disadvantage, including homelessness and mental health. He is proud to be working with Lifeline H2HS to support those in need to build resilient, suicide-safe communities and increase positive mental health and wellbeing. He holds a Masters in International Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce.

Mark Hedges – Deputy President and Treasurer

Mark joined the Board of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney in 2016, and has been a member of our Finance Audit and Risk Committee since then. He became Treasurer and chair of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee in March 2017. His career spans more than 40 years in commercial and financial roles in the listed corporates. He has been associated with community works for many years, having experience on the board of a community hospital in South Australia and an appointment to a community trust established to assist people affected by the closure of a significant industry in regional NSW. He is a member of Turramurra Rotary and was President in 2016-17.

  

Mark has a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, masters degrees in business administration and also applied finance. He is a CPA, a Fellow of the Finance and Treasurers Association and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a Director and Deputy Chair of Hunter United Employees Credit Union and Newcastle Anglican Church Corporation.

David Andrews – Company Secretary

David is a senior leader in the medical college sector. He has held a number of CEO, Director, and Company Secretary roles in the not-for-profit sector for over 20+ years. He is currently CEO of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia, a Director of Pathology Awareness Australasia, and Company Secretary of the International Collaboration on Cancer Reporting.

  

David has been CEO and Company Secretary of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Pathologists, CEO of the Australian Veterinary Association, Director of Vision 2020 Australia, and Company Secretary of the Woolcock Foundation. He has a PhD in Agricultural Chemistry, which he hasn't used for a long time, an MBA, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a serial volunteer for community groups, including some years with the East Roseville Scout Group.  

Guy Amon – Board Member

Guy joined the Board in April 2022. He has been a member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee from June 2017 to April 2022, and will be taking on the role of Chair of the Retail & Property Committee.

  

A certified financial planner with degrees in Commerce and Law, Guy is a Director of a financial planning practice founded in 1997. Guy is also a board member on three other not-for-profit boards. He is actively involved in other charitable projects associated with housing victims of domestic violence in Australia and working to educate prisoners in Indonesia.

Barbara Ward – Board Member

Barbara joined the board of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney in March 2017. Barbara is the Managing Director of Impact 1 and has a held a variety of senior commercial, customer, strategic alliance and finance roles across the industry, both onshore and overseas. Barbara has a career that spans Government, Corporate, Not for Profit and the Charity sector and is known as a ‘change agent’.

  

Barbara is the current President of Rotary Club of Sydney, Lupus Australia, SHARE (SMR) Inc, Nutrition Australia NSW, and; Immediate past President of the Australia India Business Council NSW. Barbara holds non-executive positions on several boards including the World Lupus Federation, the Royal Rehabilitation NSW Agency for Clinical Excellence. Barbara is the former President of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and is a Fellow. In 2019 she was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship, Leadership in International Mental Health, Excellence in Community Service on Australia Day, and is Nominee for the AFR 100 Women of Influence.

  

Barbara was awarded “Ku-ring-gai Local Woman of the Year 2017”, amongst many other awards for her leadership in business and the community. Barbara’s passion for good public policy stems from her experience that a strong economy is the basis of a just society and she works tirelessly at every level to make life better for those less fortunate. She has a strong commitment to helping others and building stronger communities with a focus on Mental Health and Wellbeing.

Bruce Young – Board Member

Bruce joined the Board of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney in January 2020. He is also Chair of the Risk and Compliance Committee. Since January 2014, he has volunteered as a Lifeline Telephone Crisis Supporter, and since July 2019 as an In-Shift Supervisor. Bruce spent over twenty years with Ernst & Young (EY), serving as a risk & advisory partner for sixteen years.

  

In addition, he served as National Director of the EY Oceania Technology & Security Risk Services practice, representing EY at a global level. He was the information technology signing partner for major financial services clients, and provided Risk and Advisory services to leading financial services organisations. He held the position of Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) Enterprise Services for over six years, covering all Information Technology & Group Operations. He also served as CRO for an additional five CBA Group Support functions, including Group Strategy, Human Resources, Risk Management, Financial Services and Group Corporate Affairs support services for of four years. As CRO, He was responsible for establishing an effective risk function over the Better Risk Outcomes Program (BROP), the CBA CEO sponsored Remedial Action Plan addressing APRA’s Prudential Inquiry report findings in relation to governance, culture and accountability within the CBA group.

  

Bruce has a BSc. (Information Processing, Computer Science Major), B.Com (Honours) Accounting, Master of Commerce in Computer Auditing, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants. In addition he holds Higher Diploma in financial markets and instruments, a Higher Diploma in Accounting, and is a member of the ISACA.

Peter Tuchin – Board Member

Dr Peter Tuchin has worked at Macquarie University for over 27 years and is currently an Associate Professor. Peter’s areas of research include the relationship of posture with neck pain, headaches and migraine, chronic pain syndromes, and the relationship of vertebral artery dissection stroke with chiropractic.

  

Peter has been President of the Chiropractic & Osteopathic College of Australia (COCA) and was recently made a Life Member of COCA. Peter is also a member of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) Disability and Rehabilitation committee and has had over 30 papers accepted for WFC Congresses, where he received several international research awards.

  

Peter also conducted one of the largest RCT’s on chiropractic and migraine to date. Peter is a member of the Gala Ball and Golf Day committees and is also a Crisis Supporter.

Marie Soghomonian – Board Member

Marie joined the Board of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney in October 2022 and is a member and Chair of the Fundraising, Marketing and Media subcommittee, and Chair of the Sapphire Gala Ball Committee. Marie has 20 years professional experience as a General Manager, Director, and Consultant, and has extensive senior leadership experience in business transformation, the Not-for-Profit and Charity sector. She is currently Executive Director at Ausdance NSW.

 

Marie brings significant experience in philanthropic programmes, community building, and board governance, having been actively involved in several charities as Non-Executive Director and Chair, including Sister 2 Sister Foundation, Armenian Children’s Fund Australia, and Wenona Foundation.

 

Marie holds a double Masters’ Degree in Not for Profit and Social Enterprise Management and Master of Management from the University of Technology Sydney and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Nathan Deveson – Board Member

Nathan joined the Board of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney in May 2023. He is a member of the Finance and Audit Committee. Nathan is a Partner at MinterEllison and has been a partner for more than 20 years.

  

He is a specialist in the transaction structuring and tax, with particular expertise in the real estate industry.  He is a former Sydney Managing Partner and Chairman of Partners.  He has significant experience as a division councillor and committee chair within industry bodies, and has given many years of pro-bono advice and committee experience with not for profit entities. He has sponsored the implementation of mental health and wellness programs, and suicide awareness programs.

  

Nathan has degrees in Economics (Accounting) and Law, a Masters of Law, is a Chartered Tax Advisor and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Olivia Mangholi – Board Member

Olivia is an alumnus of Barker College and Pymble Ladies' College, where she was actively involved in their national competitive swimming programs and developed a passion for mental health advocacy and suicide prevention. Her experience includes work as an Electorate Officer for a Federal Member of Parliament, including community media, strategic policy, governance, and advocacy.

  

Olivia is completing a Bachelor of Arts (Politics & International Relations), and is commencing dual Bachelor degrees in Civil Engineering (Honours) and Environmental Engineering Science in 2025. In addition to her studies and employment, Olivia has achieved awards in Surf Life Saving, the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, and Premier’s Volunteer Awards, as well as formerly holding the position of University of Sydney's Student Representative Councillor.
