Leave a bequest

Are you looking for a meaningful and lasting way to contribute to Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney? We are grateful for the generosity of those who choose to leave a legacy in this way, which allows us to continue to be there when our community needs us.

An act of kindness and generosity, leaving a bequest to Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney
will touch those in the community in their darkest moments for years to come.

What matters most

Making a will can be confronting, but it can be comforting to know those you love will be taken care of – it can also be empowering to choose the kind of legacy you would like to create, and reassuring to know you're supporting the causes close to your heart.

If the work of Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney has touched you, or resonates with you, and you would like to have a lasting impact on the lives of those in our community, please consider leaving a bequest.

Bequests made to H2HS can be as individual as you and speak to what matters most to you, such as:

  • suicide awareness and prevention
  • crisis support and counselling
  • volunteer training and support
  • community programs
  • support and treatment groups.

If you would like to leave a lasting legacy that will help prevent suicide in future generations and ensure no Australian has to face their darkest moments alone, we'd love to speak with you.

All bequests are gratefully received, and a gift of just 1% – or whatever you are most comfortable with – will not just help those in crisis, it will help us come closer to a suicide-free Australia.

Give the gift that saves lives

For over 50 years, Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney has been there for our local community, equipping thousands of individuals to support their own and others' mental health, responding to those in crisis and caring for others in recovery.

We work every day of the year to build resilience in our community through connection and empathy, gently building hope and holding people safe. But, with nine Australians still taking their own lives every day, there is still much to do.

By leaving a bequest, you will be affirming our vision of an Australia free from suicide, and supporting us in making sure no Australian need face their darkest moments alone.

Many people are surprised to know you don't need to be wealthy to leave a gift in your will – leaving a gift of even just 1% can have a significant impact – and you have control over how your gift is left.

    A very personal decision

When considering your will, we always recommend you take care of your family and loved ones first and get professional advice from a legal advisor or solicitor. You may also wish to speak with us, or have a look at our annual reports before making a decision.

Leaving a bequest is a very personal decision. We respect the kind of bequest you wish to make, which can take one or more of the following forms, and understand you may want your gift invested in an area that is of personal importance to you.

    Residuary bequest

A gift of whatever is left of your estate (or a percentage thereof) after all your other gifts have been distributed and taxes and debts have been fulfilled. (Note: a percentage gift keeps up with inflation, and means your bequest will have as much impact in the future as it would today.)

    Specific bequest

The gift of a nominated asset, such as a house, shares, life insurance etc.

    Pecuniary bequest

A gift of a set dollar amount determined by you at the time of drawing up or amending your will.

    Specified purpose bequest

You can specify that your bequest is used for suicide prevention, telephone counselling services or face-to-face counselling, for example.

Making sure your wishes are honoured

The wording used in your will is important – the wrong wording could mean your assets aren't treated as you intended, while the correct wording will ensure that gifts directed to Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney come directly to us.

We recommend you seek professional advice from a legal advisor or solicitor if you have any queries about the wording of your bequest and to ensure it is worded correctly to reflect your wishes. We offer the following as a guide.
