Community volunteers

We enjoy an important role in our community supporting older people to remain connected and independent. Our volunteers offer companionship and practical support, and often find it is just as fulfilling for them as it is for those they are paired with.

‘I simply couldn’t manage without this service; I can’t thank you enough.’

Our services

Volunteers can support older people in the community by being involved a Community Aid, which provides practical support such as a lift to the shops or a medical appointment.

You’ll be meeting a real need in our community, increasing wellbeing and social connection for older people, who enjoy the positive interactions and community involvement, and you will too!

A helping hand

Would you like to help our clients stay independent and active? Could you drive an older person to the shops, a medical appointment or social outing? Are you free to catch up with them regularly to provide companionship and support?

It is up to you how many days you are free, for how long, and who you would like to connect with. If you are compassionate, can drive, and would like to help older people in our community stay in their homes for as long as it is safe, we’d love to hear from you.

Is this something you’d like to do?

A listening ear

Can you make a regular, friendly phone call to someone experiencing loneliness and isolation? Could you check in on their wellbeing and let them know someone cares?

You will need to be one of our trained telephone crisis supporters to provide this ongoing, personalised care.

Would you like to join our support line?
